He has been selected as one of the speakers for the SOCIETY of PETROLEUM ENGINEERS 61 ANNUAL LAGOS TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION on the topic AFRICA'S PATHWAY TO NET ZERO: FIT-FOR-PURPOSE ENERGY SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT on the 18th May, 2022, between 9am to 4pm (WAT).

SYNOPSIS: ENERGY TRANSITION IN AFRICA: A STRATEGIC PATHWAY TO NET ZERO Access to energy is a major driver of economic and social development, enabling industrialization, poverty reduction, improved access to education, transportation and clean cooking conditions and stimulating sustainable growth for the people.

With the exponential population growth across many African countries and increasing energy demand required for sustainable socio-economic development and well-being, Africa needs to reconfigure her rich energy resources towards achieving energy security through a decentralized mix of solutions that harness the full potential of abundant renewable energy sources within the continent.

According to the UN report on SDG7, more than a billion people have gained access to electricity world[1]wide but regional disparities continue to persist with access deficit concentrated in Sub-Sahara Africa accounting for three-quarters of the global deficit. To solve the continents energy demand while responding to the global climate emergency for net-zero emissions by 2050, there needs to be a transition through an energy mix of sources that provide a shift away from fossil fuels to low-carbon sources of energy and renewable technologies.

Nigeria being the most populous country in Africa has heralded the energy transition by declaring the Decade of Gas towards a gas-powered economy by 2030; providing policy frameworks that facilitate domestication of gas supply over flaring and exportation. Several other African countries are also developing strategies to balance energy security with environmental sustainability. As innovations in technology, data analytics, digitalization, and international financial flows lower costs for renewable energies, what will be Africa’s pathway to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 using an integrated mix of efficient and ‘clean’ energy sources to meet energy demand across all sectors.

Join the conversation on the 17th and 18th May 2022 for this high profile, insight-packed physical event where current and emerging business models, technology adoption models and industry best practices will be shared and discussed on achieving Energy Sustainability in Nigeria at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Juststandout Limited will also be sharing and discussing its power solutions using its unique products, such as the Pylontech Lithium ion batteries, Juststandout Smart Hybrid Inverters and String Inverters etc.
